Make a plan for Summer
Don’t let your students fall victim to the dreaded summer slide. Before school gets out, make sure that you have a solid summer reading plan in place. Here are some tips and resources to help build your plan and keep students engaged with reading all summer long.
- Challenge Students to Read EVERY Day: This is easy with the myON library. Students have access to the complete library of awesome books through August. 31. Be sure to check out the suggested summer reading list for your soon to be 4th grade students - it's part of the Summer Reading Toolkit, located on our Educator Resources web site.*
- Read On The GO: Students can read wherever they go this summer with the FREE myON app. This app allows students to download up to 20 books on a digital tablet for offline reading. They can read in the car, on the plane or even at the beach. Use this link to discover more about the myON mobile app, and share this information with parents and families of your students.
- Participate in the myON Summer Reading Contest: The Final Four Challenge is over, but myON is ready with a brand new contest designed to encourage students to keep reading wherever they may be this summer. Students that read 10 books or more on myON this summer are automatically entered into a contest to win some great prizes including mini iPads and $100 gift cards.
