Longview ISD hopes online program hooks readers

Longview school leaders hope a new online initiative sparks reading interest for young students across the region.

East Texas Reads, the new program the Longview ISD kicked off Monday, already has inspired the district's students to read at least 10,000 books within two weeks of its unofficial launch, said Carlos Lopez with Myon Personalized Literacy.

District attorney donates $4.5K to school to encourage reading

JONESBORO — District Attorney Tracy Graham Lawson pitched in to help reward Brown Elementary School students who are working hard to meet and exceed their reading goals.

Lawson visited the school Tuesday and brought along her shepherd Paddy, a therapy dog in training, to congratulate the students on their progress. She presented Principal Trina Reaves with $4,500 as further encouragement.
